WWE NXT notes: Ethan Page pins #1 contender Je’Von Evans, Axiom & Nathan’s Heatwave opponents, Wes-Oba

Je’Von Evans emerged victorious from a Battle Royal to secure a shot at Trick Williams’ NXT Championship at Heatwave on July 7th. Evans competed twice in one night as he agreed to face Ethan Page in the main event. Page was part of the Battle Royal but he was not eliminated. He brawled with Oro Mensah, who’s been going after Page since he arrived in NXT and admitted that he ambushed Noam Dar. Page scored the win over Evans and post-match, Shawn Spears made a run-in and beat Evans down. Trick Williams was ringside and he was face-to-face with Page, but jumped in the ring to stop Spears. The conclusion of the show saw all four men laid out in the ring with the NXT Title in the center.

Scheduled for the 6/28 program is Tony D’Angelo defending the Heritage Cup against Nathan Frazer. Frazer and Axiom are the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions and there is going to be a Tag Team Turmoil match on 6/28 to determine their opponents at Heatwave.

As Kelani Jordan was defending the Women’s North American Title against Michin, The Good Brothers (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) joined the ringside area to support Michin. OTM’s Lucien Price and Bronco Nima joined the fray to offset Gallows and Anderson in retaliation for them costing Jaida Parker her match against Michin. While the referee was distracted, Parker pushed Michin off the top rope and although Kelani did not see what happened, she capitalized and pinned Michin.

Wes Lee approached North American Champion Oba Femi about another title opportunity. Brooks Jensen attempted to make a run-in but was stopped by security. Oba granted Wes his title shot but said if he loses, he will not be able to challenge for the belt as long as he’s champion.

Charlie Dempsey invited Tavion Heights to be part of No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne). Heights accepted, but Dempsey immediately said he must be playing hardball so he stated that if Tavion can best Damon Kemp on 6/28, he’ll be added to the group.

The duo of Andre Chase and Duke Hudson defeated Luke Gallows and Anderson.

There was a singles match between Fallon Henley and Brinley Reece. Kendal Grey was in Reece’s corner, but she was snuck up on by Wendy Choo, who choked her out. Fallon scored the win.

Adding on to the 6/28 lineup is Sol Ruca versus Arianna Grace.
