Oiwa throws his name in the hat.

After graduating from Young Lion status in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ryohei Oiwa began competing for Pro Wrestling NOAH on a regular basis. He formed a team with current GHC Heavyweight Champion Kaito Kiyomiya. In May, Oiwa turned on Kiyomiya.

There was a talk show held and Oiwa was the focus of it. He shared with the audience that he’s declaring for NOAH’s 2024 N-1 Victory tournament. The winner gets a shot at the GHC Heavyweight Championship.

Oiwa wants to defend the title at Wrestle Kingdom 19 in 2025 and feels that’ll be his way of repaying NOAH for welcoming him into the promotion.

I’ve declared my entry for the N-1 (Victory tournament), so I’m thinking of winning the N-1 this summer and using that achievement to beat Kaito Kiyomiya… I want to defend the GHC Title at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th. I think that would be my way of repaying NOAH.

As of this writing, NOAH has not formally rolled out the talent lineup for the N-1. Oiwa made his debut for NOAH at the 2023 N-1 Victory final show.
