NXT Championship match at Heatwave PLE changed to Fatal 4-Way

Williams, Page, Evans and Spears for the title in Canada.

The final segment of the 6/25 WWE NXT saw General Manager Ava make it official that at Heatwave on July 7th, Trick Williams will be defending his NXT Championship in a Fatal 4-Way against Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page and Shawn Spears.

Initially, it was promoted as Evans versus Williams for the title because Evans won a Battle Royal to secure the opportunity. Page took umbrage with the call because he was never eliminated from the Battle Royal. His brawl with Oro Mensah took them to the backstage area.

Page picked up a pin fall victory over Evans later that night. On the 6/25 program, Brooks Jensen tried to disrupt the match between Spears and Trick and while being held back by security and referees, he hit Trick over the head with the announce desk cover.

Spears then pinned the NXT Champion. Page was on commentary for the match, but Mensah targeted him again. Now that the NXT Title bout at Heatwave is Fatal 4-Way, the updated lineup is listed below:

  • NXT Championship — Fatal 4-Way: Trick Williams (c) vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Ethan Page vs. Shawn Spears
  • NXT Tag Team Championships: Nathan Frazer & Axiom (c) vs. Chase University (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)
  • NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs. Wes Lee
  • NXT Women’s North American Championship: Kelani Jordan (c) vs. Sol Ruca
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Lola Vice
