Bryan Danielson has advanced to the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament semifinals with a win over NJPW’s Shingo Takagi.

The predictably excellent match went down at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Danielson will face PAC in the next phase of the tournament on July 3rd during the ‘Beach Break’ special edition of AEW Dynamite.

The story of the match was Danielson taking sustained damage to his head and neck, starting with a DDT from the apron to the floor.

The punishment continued, including Danielson taking a superplex from the top rope and a Pumping Bomber lariat. A huge nearfall followed with Danielson kicking out of the Made in Japan.

Danielson would rally, with another big two-count after delivering a Busaiku Knee.

The victory came via the LeBell Lock, with the commentary team calling a “verbal tap”.
