AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door saw Tetsuya Naito reclaim the IWGP World Heavyweight Title from Jon Moxley.

Moxley won the title from Naito on January 4th in the Tokyo Dome at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18.

Hiroyuki ‘Red Shoes’ Unno was on referee duty for the match, and Moxley emerged to his ‘Deathrider’ New Japan theme. The match also saw Jim Ross come out to join the commentary team.

The match was presented as even throughout, and was competed at a slower pace than most other contests on the card.

In the final sequences, Moxley took a Destino but countered a second. Moxley then nailed a Death Rider for another near fall. Moxley argued with Red Shoes over the count.

Moxley then brought in a chair, but Red Shoes confiscated it before Moxley could hit the Death Rider onto it. Naito then countered the Death Rider into a Destino. He then hit a brainbuster and a second Destino for the title.
