Drew McIntyre has become Mr Money in the Bank after winning the opening match of Saturday’s WWE premium live event.

McIntyre beat the rest of the field, comprising Jey Uso, Carmelo Hayes, Andrade, Chad Gable and LA Knight.

He now has a year to cash in the contract in the briefcase for a championship match against any male WWE or NXT title holder at a time of his choosing.

The match included a mix of styles including some early acrobatic spots from Carmelo Hayes and Andrade.

Chad Gable got the better of some of the larger opponents by targeting their legs with a series of ankle locks.

There were some nasty-looking bumps, including McIntyre power-bombing Gable onto a ladder propped in a corner of the ring. Hayes also took a Sunset Flip power-bomb onto a ladder.

Gable come closest to grabbing the briefcase when Jey Uso pulled the ladder from him, leaving him hanging in the air with nowhere to go but fall.

After McIntyre took out Uso, his way was clear to climb the ladder and grab the case.
