As of this writing, it’s been a month since Ash’s return to NXT.
The working relationship between WWE and TNA Wrestling is continuing on and the latest presentation occurred at the conclusion of NXT Heatwave when a clip of Joe Hendry was the last imagery shown during the broadcast.
The month prior to Heatwave, the brand hosted their Battleground special. That event saw TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship. Grace lost after being distracted by Tatum Paxley and Ash by Elegance f.k.a. Dana Brooke tussling over her title belt.
As Ash was doing a virtual signing for RDP Promotions, she recalled chatting with Shawn Michaels and TNA President Anthony Cicione about the then-upcoming appearance at Battleground.
I was like a caged animal in a caged room for like eight hours (prior to NXT Battleground). I couldn’t see or say hi to anybody.
(Ash was asked who brought the idea to her) Shawn Michaels and then I had a call with the President of TNA, and I was like, ‘Of course I will. It’s like an ex-girlfriend or boyfriend wanting you back, right?’ (She laughed)
Coming up at TNA’s Slammiversary pay-per-view, Ash will be challenging Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts World Championship.
