The match that put Zayn on WWE’s radar.
The history between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens dates back to the early portion of their careers in 2003. They’ve shared the ring across Canada and that carried over to PWG, Ring of Honor and WWE. Their most recent one-on-one match was in January 2023.
As Zayn was being interviewed by Good Karma Wrestling, he shared that the match that put him on WWE’s radar was against Owens. It took place in 2012 at ROH Showdown in the Sun and it was a Last Man Standing match.
There’s one that we (Zayn & Kevin Owens) did in Ring of Honor, WrestleMania weekend. Actually, it’s what put me on WWE’s radar. There was a scout there called Canyon Ceman and it was his first weekend on the job and he saw me in that match and that’s kind of the match that put me on the radar and got me hired in a weird way.
