Kota Ibushi returns to DDT Pro-Wrestling at Wrestle Peter Pan

A surprise appearance from Ibushi.

For months, DDT Pro-Wrestling President Sanshiro Takagi stated that the July 21st Wrestle Peter Pan show would be his last before he takes a break from in-ring competition.

He competed against Danshoku Dino in a Weapon Rumble match for the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship. There was a fake retirement ceremony held for Takagi and the now-retired Saki Akai, who transitioned to a behind the scenes role for DDT, brought a bouquet of flowers to the ring.

Among those that joined the fray were Maki Itoh, Miyu Yamashita and Michael Nakazawa. They fought with Takagi in the ring. Then came a surprise appearance from Kota Ibushi and he delivered a Kamigoye to Takagi.

It was Ibushi’s first DDT appearance since 2017. Takagi told Ibushi that he’s interested in a singles match against him. Ibushi responded by asking if he could come back to DDT and Takagi told him he could.

Kota made his return to in-ring action in an exhibition match for GLEAT. He had been sidelined since January. He underwent right ankle surgery. There was damage done to his ligaments and he suffered ruptures as well.
