El Desperado will be out of action for an indefinite period as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

Desperado announced on YouTube that he has been dealing with a medial meniscus injury for the past six months and is going to have surgery.

The announcement followed his match with Chris Brookes at DDT’s Wrestle Peter Pan show on Sunday at Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Hall) where Desperado beat Brookes after hitting the Pinche Loco.

Desperado won this past year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament against Taiji Ishimori in the main event of Dominion. He won his fourth IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship by beating SHO at the New Japan Soul event on June 16 but only held the belt for three weeks, losing it to DOUKI on July 5.
