WWE Raw notes: Finn Bálor vs. GUNTHER, Rollins/Punk/McIntyre, Buddy Matthews reacts to Rhea & Dominik

The 7/29 and 8/5 editions of Monday Night Raw will air on SYFY. The 7/29 show is going to feature a singles match between GUNTHER and World Tag Team Champion Finn Bálor. Balor was in the main event of the 7/22 program as he teamed with J.D. McDonagh and they fell in defeat to Jey Uso and Sami Zayn. Bron Breakker speared Zayn after the match.

It is official that Seth Rollins will serve as the special guest referee for Drew McIntyre and CM Punk’s match at SummerSlam. On 7/29, he’ll deliver his referee instructions to the two competitors.

There was an in-ring segment with Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley. Dominik addressed Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and told her that he hates her. Morgan wept as she walked away and that was met with a positive response from Ripley, who licked Dominik’s cheek. Rhea’s real-life husband, Buddy Matthews, reacted to that moment on X.

After Otis, Akira Tozawa and Xavier Woods fell in defeat to The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam & Rezar), Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) came out. Gable asked Otis to join them but he refused. Gable told Julius and Brutus to attack him but Otis fought back. When he got his hands on Gable, The Creeds jumped him from behind. Out came The Wyatt Sicks and in the ring, Uncle Howdy (Bo Dallas) gave Gable a Sister Abigail. Circling back to the six-man tag, Woods will be facing Kross on 7/29.

Ahead of challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, a video package featuring GUNTHER aired. He looked back at the past holders of the title he’ll be challenging for and while speaking about the way Drew McIntyre lost the belt, he called CM Punk an ‘afterthought.’

For the first time since the summer of 2023, Sonya Deville was in action and she defeated Lyra Valkyria.

Before Pete Dunne versus Bronson Reed could get underway, Sheamus took Dunne out with a running knee and proceeded to take Reed out as well.

Zelina Vega went one-on-one with Zoey Stark and used a padded arm sleeve to pick up the win. During the bout, Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance took out Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler at ringside. A six-woman tag is set for 7/29 as it’ll be Stark, Baszler and Deville versus Valkyria, Carter and Chance.
