When it was revealed that the AEW International Champion MJF would be coming to CMLL for their August 2nd event at Arena México, CMLL rolled out that there would be a tournament to determine his challenger.
There were two groups of teams and the eliminations happened as follows: Rugido, Zandokan Jr., Flip Gordon, Stuka Jr., Valiente, Esfinge and lastly, Templario eliminated Averno.
As of this writing, it’ll be MJF’s first defense of the belt since winning it from Will Ospreay at AEW Dynamite 250 in their hour-long match.
MJF is scheduled to appear at the Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite.
