Damian Priest: The idea that I forgot to kick out at WWE Money in the Bank, that’s not a thing

Priest discusses the talked about moment from MITB.

The most recent defense of Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship took place at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. He put the title on the line against Seth Rollins.

Drew McIntyre cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to make the match a Triple Threat, but was unsuccessful in his attempt to become champion. Before McIntyre entered the fray, Rollins had Priest pinned but the referee did not follow through on his three count despite Priest not kicking out.

Shortly after, McIntyre came into the picture. Priest addressed that moment while being interviewed by the New York Post. He said he did not forget to kick out. There was a situation but he’s fine and the story continued. He added that those in the know were aware of the situation and no one thought twice about it.

The idea that I forgot to kick out (at WWE Money in the Bank), that’s not a thing. That’s not a thing. We don’t forget to kick out. Twenty years in, I’m pretty sure there is some kind of muscle memory there. So me forgetting was not the case. There was nothing outside that was supposed to happen. It was a matter of there was a situation, but I’m OK. Everybody’s fine, the story continues.

It doesn’t affect anything. The show goes on and I think fans are very invested in everything that’s going on. The ones that matter knew the situation and nobody thought twice about it. It was, move on.

Coming up at SummerSlam, Priest will have his fourth defense of the World Heavyweight Title against GUNTHER. To catch up on their latest run-in, check out the newest Rewind-A-Raw podcast here on POST Wrestling.
