REPORT: Meiko Satomura planning to retire from in-ring competition

Per report, Satomura is planning to wrap up her in-ring career.

A report from Tokyo Sports was pushed out and the outlet notes that Meiko Satomura is planning to retire from in-ring competition. They noted that an announcement from Meiko is expected soon.

Sources told the outlet that this year, she’s been considering her future as a wrestler. The date of her formal retirement has yet to be decided, but April 2025 will be the 30th anniversary of her in-ring debut.

The site added that Satomura told those close to her that she wants to remain involved in wrestling after wrapping up her in-ring career. She was in action for WWE on 7/25 at their house show in Osaka, Japan and will be with the company throughout their remaining shows in the country.

After her match, Tokyo Sports asked her about retirement and she neither confirmed nor denied. 

In 2021, Satomura signed a deal with WWE to become a wrestler-coach. She went on to capture the NXT U.K. Women’s Championship. In addition to those duties, she was operating the Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling promotion which she co-founded in 2006.
