Punk interested in the idea of tagging with Cena.

At WWE’s Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, John Cena made a surprise appearance and went on to announce that he’ll be retiring from in-ring competition in 2025. He later clarified that his final match will be in December of that year.

His road to retirement was mentioned by CM Punk during WWE’s San Diego Comic-Con 2024 panel. He brought up the idea of tagging with Cena at some point before he steps away from the ring.

If I had to tag up with somebody to beat some people up, it would probably Larry. Everybody’s asking me because (John) Cena has announced his retirement that, you know, obviously they wanna see us fight each other. I think there’s something to me and him tagging. I think that can be pretty interesting.

Punk is scheduled to make his in-ring return at SummerSlam. He’ll be facing Drew McIntyre and the special guest referee will be Seth Rollins.
