A pair of new champions were crowned on Thursday night when ROH presented Death Before Dishonor 2024 from Arlington, Texas.
Red Velvet became the second-ever ROH Women’s World Television Champion, providing a sudden end to the title reign of Billie Starkz.
Velvet broke out her new finisher once again, using it to put away heel Starkz late in their match this weekend. The pinfall came shortly after Starkz tried to fake an injury to catch her opponent off guard, a tactic she used to begin her title run earlier this year.
Starkz was aiming to defend her title for the first time since becoming the inaugural women’s TV champ in April, beating Queen Aminata at the promotion’s 2024 Supercard of Honor show.
Earlier in the evening, Lee Moriarty ended the near 250-day ROH Pure Champion reign of Wheeler Yuta, scoring a pinfall win in the closing seconds of their 20-minute time-limit match.
Moriarty turned a submission attempt into a roll-up pin, causing an end to their match on Friday. The finish made him the sixth wrestler to claim the belt since it returned in 2020. It also marked the first AEW or ROH title reign for Moriarty, who has appeared in the company since 2021.
