** Bill Goldberg’s name came up as Bret Hart was doing a virtual signing for Signed By Superstars. He was asked for his thoughts on Goldberg’s more recent comments about him. He reacted but prior to that, he spoke about how ‘dangerous’ Booker T’s Scissors Kick finisher was. Bret said between Goldberg and Booker, they were trying to kill him.
Man, that’s a really dangerous move, that one (Bret said while looking at photo of Booker T doing Scissors Kick to him) … When he did that to me, it drove my head right into the mat… Between him and Goldberg, they were trying to kill me. That was a really dangerous move. I had to tell him stop. He couldn’t do it to me anymore. He (did it to) me two or three times and every time he did, drove my head right into the — almost right through the boards.
I don’t pay much attention to Bill. I don’t know anyone that does (Bret responded to follow-up question about Goldberg’s more recent comments about him).
** Looking back at his time leading the Straight Edge Society, CM Punk told Ringside Collectibles that it was the time of his life. He then answered the question of if he’ll ever lead another faction.
That was a special time in my career (leading Straight Edge Society). You always hear people say, like, ‘Oh, my character is me turned up to 11’ and man, was that ever me turned up to 11. The preachy, you take everything that is stereotypical about the straight edge and the whole movement and the subculture and you get to play that as a bad guy on television and that was the time of my life. It was just so fun to be super preachy and trying to weave in a lot of religious tones, trying to force my stuff on other people. It was the ultimate bad guy. It was the time of my life.
I’m not gonna say no (to if I’ll lead another faction or not) because you never say never. I don’t see it happening in the foreseeable future, but you never know what’s gonna happen. That’s the cool thing about where we’re at as a company right now. Creatively speaking, this is the most fruitful, creative locker room that I think I’ve ever been in where ideas aren’t ignored and shot down and people are eager to share ideas. So, somebody someday could have a brilliant idea. Something that I have blinders on and can’t see, and I would be receptive to any of the ideas as long as they’re good.
** A new interview was posted to the Irish Wrestling Podcast YouTube channel with former ROH owner and ambassador, Cary Silkin. He looked back on the formation of ROH and Pro Wrestling NOAH’s partnership in the early 2000s. He stated that TNA Wrestling was ‘too stupid’ to have a partnership with NOAH at the time.
Back in 2005-ish, definitely ‘6, we (ROH) were approached by Pro Wrestling NOAH. They approached us. Remember Gabe (Sapolsky), it was like, ‘Cary, you’re not gonna believe this.’ Pro Wrestling NOAH, at that time, was neck and neck with New Japan and they were really nice people. They wanted a presence in the United States. They didn’t wanna work with WWE and I don’t think WWE wanted to work with them. TNA was too stupid to do it the way they operated. If someone doesn’t like me saying that, oh well. TNA, they had their own agenda.
