Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor was convicted on two counts of dangerous driving in a Dublin, Ireland court on Wednesday, being handed a list of sanctions that stopped short of giving him prison time.

Judge David McHugh of the Blanchardstown District Court gave McGregor a two-year driving ban, a few thousand dollars of fines, and a five-month suspended sentence under the condition of abiding by the law for the next two years.

McGregor had pled guilty to two counts of dangerous driving which stemmed from an incident where he was travelling at speeds of 99 miles per hour, running red lights and cutting through traffic in a Bentley Continental GT.

Judge McHugh chastised McGregor en route to announcing his punishment, per a report from the Mirror. He called the fighter’s actions an “appalling series of breaches of the road traffic rules.”

The decision to not give McGregor a prison sentence – which can last up to six months in length for a dangerous driving violation – came after his legal team argued that he ran businesses, provided employment and had been providing care for his father.

While McGregor has never been found guilty of dangerous driving in the past, the Mirror reported that he has now faced a total of 20 traffic-related convictions.

Even apart from vehicular wrongdoings, McGregor has gained a reputation for run-ins with the law. In 2019 he notably was fined for attacking a man inside a Dublin pub in an incident which was captured on security footage and surfaced online.

McGregor has been out of competition since he suffered a loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021, breaking his ankle in the process. He was expected to have a return bout across from Michael Chandler last month, although the fight fell through in the weeks leading up due to the former UFC champ suffering a broken toe.
