Finn Bálor turns on Damian Priest; GUNTHER captures WWE World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam

Judgment Day implodes.

The first match at SummerSlam saw Dominik Mysterio assist Liv Morgan in retaining her Women’s World Championship over Rhea Ripley.

The second to last match on the card was the World Heavyweight Championship match between GUNTHER and the champion Damian Priest.

Judgment Day’s Finn Bálor would make his way out to the ring and began showing support for Damian. When Priest saw GUNTHER kick Bálor to the ground, he fired up and began to take the fight to his opponent. Priest went on to hit GUNTHER with the South of Heaven chokeslam and as the count was being made, Bálor hung GUNTHER’s foot on the bottom rope to break the count.

Priest realized what happened when he watched the replay in the stadium. Earlier in the night, Priest asked Finn if he knew Dominik was going to turn his back on Rhea but Finn said he had no clue.

Going back to the match, Priest went over to Finn but GUNTHER snatched him up and put him in a sleeper hold. Priest fought out of it and tried to get after Finn again. GUNTHER got a hold of Priest, powerbombed him and then submitted him with the sleeper hold to become champion.

While celebrating his win, GUNTHER went over to his wife, former WWE talent Jinny, who was ringside.
