Roxanne Perez wants final match with retiring Meiko Satomura

It was a dream come true for Roxanne Perez when she was able to face Meiko Satomura twice in recent years, and the current NXT Women’s Champion wants a trilogy bout between them before the legendary wrestler retires.

During a WWE trip to Japan recently, Satomura confirmed that she would officially retire from wrestling by April 2025. Her decorated career – which dates back to 1995 and includes a long run in her home country of Japan before arriving in the WWE – is set to conclude in just a few month’s time.

Before that end, Perez told Stephanie Chase that she wanted to face her one last time.

“Meiko Satomura, she was my dream opponent probably since I was about 16 years old, so coming to WWE and right away getting two matches against her within a few months of me being there was just insane, kind of like a ‘pinch me moment,'” she told Chase. “I really think that she is, if not the best, one of the best women’s wrestlers. Not women’s wrestlers, one of the best wrestlers in the entire world. I am sad to see that she is going to be retiring next year, but I really, really hope I get to have just one more match.”

Satomura and Perez first met in 2022, competing in a singles match on NXT TV, with Satomura emerging victorious. They rematched a year later on a special “Roadblock” episode of the program, this time with Perez wagering her world title. She prevailed in that appearance, evening their singles record against each other.
