The second leg of WWE NXT’s Great American Bash live special took place on Tuesday evening, including a trio of title matches from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Pete Dunne kicked off the card with a big win, putting away Trick Williams with a Brutal Ending after avoiding a Trick-Shot in the corner. The match was Williams’ first loss since dropping the NXT title last month to Ethan Page.
After the first match, a clip was shown where Lexus King was kicked out of an NXT Great American Bash party by Eddy Thorpe after trying to take over the DJ role.
Kelani Jordan’s reign as the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion continued with a win this week, defeating Tatum Paxley with a pinfall victory. Jordan had an impressive finishing sequence, hitting a Spanish Fly off the top rope and then a frogsplash to win.
During the match, Wendy Choo notably made an appearance. After the bout ended, Choo swept Paxley off the ringside steel stairs and then stared down Jordan.
Backstage, Wren Sinclair asked to join No Quarter Catch Crew if she beats Kendal Grey. Tony D’Angelo entered the frame and said that if Sinclair wins, he’ll give Charlie Dempsey a title match. Sinclair used D’Angelo’s deal to leverage an agreement that she could join No Quarter Catch Crew with a win. It was also mentioned during the conversation that Tavion Heights is not missing, but instead competing in NOAH’s N1.
In what was a lengthy back-and-forth brawl, Ethan Page retained his NXT Championship against Oro Mensah. The match included a sequence near the stage using a table, and an Ego’s Edge at the end to put away Mensah.
Joe Hendry picked up his first NXT singles win in the next bout, beating Joe Coffey in front of a raucous crowd. After using deceptive tactics to get Coffey’s posse banned from ringside, Hendry hit the Standing Ovation to win. After the match, Hendry said he wasn’t planning on leaving NXT yet and would make an appearance on next week’s episode.
In a pre-taped segment, Ridge Holland said that Chase U was granted a title shot against the winner of this week’s tag match. In a twist, he said that it would be him and Andre Chase battling for the title, snubbing Duke Hudson from appearing in a championship opportunity.
In a big match for No Quarter Catch Crew, Wren Sinclair overcame Kendal Grey in the co-main event of the night. The match meant that Sinclair officially joined the No Quarter Catch Crew, but also meant that Charlie Dempsey would get a chance to get revenge against Tony D’Angelo.
Just before the main event, Oba Femi announced that he would put his North American Championship on the line. As he was describing his bout, Tony D’Angelo interrupted him to talk about his match against Charlie Dempsey. It was also announced that Eddy Thorpe and Lexis King will meet in a singles match on next week’s show.
While MSK’s Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz came incredibly close to capturing the NXT Tag Team Championships, they eventually came up short against Axiom and Nathan Frazer after they were hit with The Golden Ratio. The live crowd was incredibly into this match and were clearly behind MSK winning, causing the reactions to fall a little flat once the main event ended. After the match, Wes Lee looked incredibly upset after his loss.
As his teammates lifted him up in support, Lee suddenly took them both out, causing shock amongst the live audience. He shouted “You left me alone!” at Wentz in between punches to the head. He sent Trey Miguel flying through a barricade outside of the ring, then scored a double knees to the head of Wentz, who was sitting up against a steel staircase. Standing without anybody by his side, the camera remained on Wentz as the show went off-air.
