AEW’s Anna Jay made her STARDOM debut on Saturday with a win over Saori Anou.

Jay was announced as a mystery entrant in the 2024 5Star Grand Prix tournament on July 27th.

This year’s round-robin competition is divided into four blocks of seven wrestlers each: Blue Stars A, Blue Stars B, Red Stars A, and Red Stars B.

The tournament began on Saturday and runs until August 21st.

Anna Jay went up against Blue Stars A rival Saori Anou in the opening tournament match. Anou is a multiple-time STARDOM champion, yet Jay managed the upset victory.

She looked shocked after countering a backslide attempt from Anou into a roll-up.

Backstage after the match, Jay said:

My first day in Japan, I got my first win in STARDOM and I cannot wait to keep going. This is exactly what I came here for, to get better, to win, finally, and this is where to do that. And God, I feel good already right now. I’m out of breath, I’m a little tired, I arrived here at 4 am, but here I am, I’m doing it. And this is exactly what I’ve wanted to do all along — do the work and be here with the best.
