Big E: “If I were to be cleared, hopefully it would happen within the next year or so”

Big E expresses that he’s enjoying doing the P.L.E. panels.

It has been a full two years since Big E suffered a broken neck on Friday Night SmackDown. In the time since then, he’s provided numerous updates on his recovery.

The consistent note from E is that his neck is not ossifying, but he has mobility and is not in any pain. He was interviewed by Carlo Perruzza and was asked about the possibility of returning to in-ring action.

E said if he’s cleared, he hopes it’ll happen within the next year or so. He’s been a part of the Premium Live Event pre-show and post-show panels and confirmed he’ll be in Germany for WWE Bash in Berlin.

We’ll see (if I could ever wrestle again). Right now, my neck is just not ossifying. It’s not turning into new bone quite yet. It is kind of healing fibrously. So it’s all connected and it’s no fear that if I were pushed too hard or if I were bumped, anything would happen. None of that. But I’m not really in a position right now to be cleared, medically, because of the nature of what we do is very physical and taking bumps requires you to have a rock-solid neck. So, we’ll see what the future holds. Mind you, there’s kind of a race against the clock. I’m 38. I’m no spring chicken anymore so, if I were to be cleared, hopefully it would happen within the next year or so. But more than anything, I’m focusing on what I do have in life and I have a great life, I have a lot of things I’m able to do right now. I went down to Cancun a couple of months ago for stem cells and we’ll see how that goes. Went to a great spot called RejuvStem in Cancun. They also have an office I believe in Guadalajara and they’re looking to expand. They were great to me, and yeah, I’m really having a great time on these Countdown shows. We’re doing pre-shows and post-shows for all the PLEs. I’m headed to Berlin very soon but, it’s been fun. I’ve really enjoyed this new role, this current role and if an opportunity in the ring opens up, then we’ll address that but, for right now, my focus is on the broadcasting side of things.

Big E’s longtime partners Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are feuding with The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam, Rezar, Scarlett & Paul Ellering) on Raw. Kingston brought in Odyssey Jones to help New Day in the numbers game.
