With his career on the line this weekend at AEW All In London, it’s a good time for Bryan Danielson to do some reflecting.
Danielson looked back on his career for a recent interview with Uproxx Sports, mentioning how his time in AEW has been and comparing it to other eras of his life.
Danielson had a glowing review of AEW, going as far as to say it was the most enjoyable thing he has done since his 1999 debut.
“When I think of this time, this has been the most fun I’ve ever had in my career, Danielson told Uproxx. “For the first time in my life and in my wrestling career, it didn’t feel like I was sacrificing family to do this thing that I loved.”
When comparing his recent run to the decade he spent in the WWE, Danielson mentioned the freedoms he now enjoys. While he enjoyed his WWE run, the abilities he is given for his personal life, for creative, and more has made him feel lucky.
“I love wrestling and I loved being in WWE. I make no bones about that. I loved being in WWE, but it wasn’t my favorite style of wrestling. In AEW, I’m able to wrestle the style that I want to wrestle. And then on top of that, you have a lot of creative freedom there. And I also get to come home and spend a lot of time with my family. It’s really what I think of these last three years. I think of them as just this huge, huge blessing as far as this cherry on top of a career that I’m not quite sure I deserved anyways.”
It will be a “title versus career” match when Danielson meets AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland on Sunday from Wembley Stadium in London, England. While we don’t know for sure whether Danielson’s career will come to a close soon, Sunday could provide an answer.
