British wrestling stand-out Michael Oku graced the AEW ring this week before the promotion’s taping of Dynamite from Cardiff, Wales.
Oku appeared in a dark match against Serpentico on Wednesday, per posts made by fans in attendance for the event. The match was his first-ever appearance at a televised AEW card, deepening his ties to a promotion that he has been “close” to signing with, per a recent report from Fightful Select.
For years, Oku has been one of the biggest names in the prominent British promotion RevPro. He currently holds the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, a belt he has put on the line against Will Ospreay, Gabe Kidd, Trent Seven, and a dozen others over the past year.
Even outside of his current title reign, he has faced a long list of big names in wrestling. This includes Zack Sabre Jr., Konosuke Takeshita, Lio Rush, and El Phantasmo. Earlier this month, Oku went nearly 30 minutes against MJF in a match for the AEW American Championship.
While Oku has been a shining star of the British scene for years, a potential move to AEW would launch him onto the world stage in a way never seen before. A deal between the two hasn’t been reported, but he has now appeared at their first-ever TV event in Europe.
