JBL details how AAA Triplemanía XXXII appearance came to fruition, adds that he’s looking for an investment

JBL is not looking to wrestle.

The third of three AAA Triplemanía XXXII shows took place on August 17th in Mexico City. The second to last match on the card was Alberto El Patrón challenging Nic Nemeth for the Mega Championship.

Nemeth was accompanied to the ring by WWE Hall of Famer J.B.L. (John Bradshaw Layfield). JBL detailed how that surprise appearance came to be as he was speaking to Greg Oliver of Slam Wrestling. Sam Adonis and another individual named Roy Lucier helped sneak him into Mexico.

JBL sported a replica Tinieblas mask. Tinieblas is a luchador that is now 85 years of age. While in public, Layfield found it funny that he was supposed to pretend he was Tinieblas but when approached by fans, he spoke in English with his southern accent.

It was a lot of fun sneaking into Mexico. You know, a lot of people talk about how people are sneaking across the border. I’m actually one of the few people that snuck into Mexico, and I think Mexico is now going to build a wall and ask for the Texans to pay for it, because it keeps Texans out of Mexico.

When I walked in, people thought I was actually him (Tinieblas) because he worked for a different company, until I forgot, of course, being dumb like I am, that I’m not supposed to speak English (JBL laughed). Some fans rushed me for an autograph. I go, ‘Not right now’ in a southern accent. They look at me like, he just learned English somehow. It freaked them out.

He expressed that he wanted to support Nemeth and was excited to go back to Mexico. JBL hopes there will be more opportunities with AAA.

Nic Nemeth is a good friend of mine, and I’d worked down in Mexico years ago, and wanted to go back down and see AAA and support Nic, and I was excited to go back down there.

It’s kind of easy for me in Mexico (JBL joked while referencing his programs with Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio). There’s a lot of history there. That’s one of the reasons I want to go down, because of the history, and go have some fun again. I wanted to do something, and I had an opportunity in AAA, and there may be more opportunities. I’m hoping that there will be.

When asked if he’s looking to wrestle, JBL said that’s not what he’s aiming for. He added that he’s looking for an investment and hopefully something comes out in the near future that clears everything up. He stated that he’s not being vague on purpose.

No, no (I’m not looking to wrestle). I’m looking for an investment and looking maybe to do something with AAA, and I don’t know. We’ll see. I enjoyed what they did. There’s whatever the crowd capacity was, the building was full. 15, 20,000 people, and they drew a heck of a crowd.

Hopefully there’s something that will come out in the pretty near future that will kind of make all of this kind of clear and kind of see a path going forward. I’m not exactly sure the path going forward. I’m not just being vague on purpose because I’m not exactly sure what’s going to happen.

The former WWE Champion told Slam Wrestling that he’s had great conversations with AAA Director Dorian Roldán.

At night one of GCW Homecoming, JBL made a surprise appearance and took out Effy.
