Joe speaks about the pairing with HOOK and Shibata.

Over the summer on AEW programming, the trio of Samoa Joe, HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata were regularly featured on television together.

That trio’s formation was discussed by Joe at Terrificon 2024 (via Fandom Spotlite). He remembers talking with AEW President Tony Khan about the grouping.

It was kind of just talking with HOOK and knowing (Katsuyori) Shibata and seeing these two talents. I wanted to do something different with them. I wanted for the world to see a little bit more both of their personalities and so, I sat there and I sat with Tony (Khan). We kind of figured out, ‘Yeah, would this be kind of a good grouping of us three?…’ So that was really how it all came together.

Joe has not been on television since he was taken out by Chris Jericho in a Stampede Street Fight in July. Joe’s ally HOOK bested Chris Jericho at All In to capture the FTW Championship for a third time.
