On Monday, the wrestling world learned of the passing of former WWF & WCW champion Sid Eudy and more information has been released from his family.

Gunnar Eudy, one of Sid’s two sons, announced the news of his father’s passing at the age of 63 after battling cancer. Sid had kept the news of his health private over the past several years, but Gunnar posted on Facebook about the struggles Sid had been going through over the past eight years:

Sid was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2016 and atrial fibrillation (better known as AFIB) around the same time. He was also given a pacemaker. In April 2021, he was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which was linked to roundup weed killer.

Gunnar added that the myriad health problems didn’t affect Sid’s day-to-day life as he was still working out and had a big presence with his grandchildren:

Although he never told anyone about his fight against cancer, Sid lived his life to the fullest, attending the gym, boxing classes, making appearances for his fans, and of course t-ball games for the kids. He passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. I’ve never met anyone with a fraction of the strength as my father he truly was one of a kind.

He also thanked the thousands of messages he has received since the news of Sid’s passing.
