On the marquee for NXT No Mercy is Ethan Page defending the NXT Championship against TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry.
The go-home episode of NXT before the P.L.E. featured a Joe Hendry concert. His performance led to the crowd singing, ‘Ethan sucks, believe in Joe. Ethan, put on some clothes’ and the crowd continued to sing even when Page interrupted and was trying to talk to Hendry.
General Manager Ava would make her way to the entrance area and introduced Trick Williams as the special guest referee for the title match. Hendry hit his ‘Standing Ovation’ finisher onto Page and that was followed by Williams counting to three for Hendry as he unofficially pinned the champion.
Earlier in the night, Joe approached Williams and told him that when he beats Page at No Mercy, Trick will be first in line for a title shot.
As Hendry and Williams were in the ring, cameras cut over to Pete Dunne, who stated that he does not think Williams will make it to their match on the 9/3 NXT.
