Before Foley called it off, he was in discussions with MJF.

Earlier this year, Mick Foley revealed his intentions to have one final match for his 60th birthday in June 2025. He ultimately called it off as he was dealing with dizziness and lightheadedness. Foley added that after meeting with doctors, all signs were pointing towards a concussion.

He spoke about potential plans for the final match while he was the focus of a panel at Nickel City Comic-Con (via Fandom Spotlite).

Foley revealed that he met with former AEW World Champion MJF about being his opponent. He said MJF laid out ‘six great weeks of TV.’ Foley had no doubt that MJF would have been able to pull it off and would’ve been able to work around his weaknesses.

Man, when I was thinking of having that last match, I’ll tell you what, when I announced that intention, there were no shortage of people from every promotion reaching out to me and one guy I probably would have gone with because he’d clearly done some thinking about it and lined out six great weeks of TV was MJF… We didn’t take a photo together because we didn’t wanna ruin the secret meeting but, I heard what he had to say, I really liked it. I had no doubt that he would have pulled it off perfectly and you know, he’s so good and in his prime that he could have worked around my weaknesses and played to my strengths and I think we could have done something pretty cool. MJF. Final answer. Take that, Matt Cardona (Foley laughed).

The last time the WWE Hall of Famer competed in a ring was when he was a part of the 2012 Royal Rumble match.
