** Drew McIntyre is starring in The Killer’s Game film with Dave Bautista. Both are making the media rounds to promote the movie and McIntyre chatted with Nerd Reactor. He spoke about Bautista being a mentor on-set and when McIntyre first joined WWE.

Oh, it’s so much fun (being a part of The Killer’s Game with Dave Bautista). This is my first movie I’ve been a part of. The character that was presented to me by Dave was so exciting and intriguing to me and it’s a world people have asked me constantly, ‘You gonna get involved with eventually?’ And I was like, ‘We’ll see what happens.’ I’m a wrestler. That’s first and foremost and is number one in my life. But to be there, be with Dave, who I grew up with in WWE. He was already a made star, main eventer when I arrived in 2007 and I was a kid that knew nothing and he helped guide me on my journey when I first arrived. Not just navigating WWE, but also navigating life because I was just absolutely clueless. I was just picked up from Scotland in college and dropped down and he was there, you know, as a friend and mentor and it’s interesting to fast-forward so many years. The success he’s had in the entertainment world in Hollywood and now, he’s doing the exact same. He’s helping guide me along. Mentoring me once again and the experience on the movie, it was just, yeah, unreal. It’s crazy what WWE prepares you for. It really prepares you for it feels like anything in life. But specifically, this world, I was so nervous. Dave calmed my nerves and that red light went on. I just relaxed again.

** The Great North Wrestling Podcast welcomed Johnny Swinger onto the platform. Swinger shared that he’ll be involved with Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling promotion.

Yeah, he (Scott D’Amore) has asked me if I’d like to be involved with that (Maple Leaf Pro) and simple answer, sure, you know what I mean? And like I said, he started me. He’s probably gonna finish me up too. We always end up together, because it works. He told me many years ago, he goes, ‘Swinger, you were born to be a wrestler.’ Scott was born to produce TV. He was producing TV shows when he was 19 and it’s not just — everyone’s got wrestling ideas. This guy was formatting stuff and he could organize it all and he’s got 100 people — that’s a special kind of talent… I don’t know too much about the Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. I just know that he has asked me if I’d like to be involved and I said, ‘100 percent’ so, I can’t wait to see where that goes. I got high hopes for that as far as going forward with me getting more TV exposure. I’ve been independent all these years. I’m at independent shows every weekend so I always have that but it’s exciting for a new thing to be coming up and to get a chance to be involved with it. I’m looking forward to it.

** During the 5/31/24 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, now-former WWE backstage interviewer Kayla Becker (Kayla Braxton) caught up with L.A. Knight. He insulted her and then attempted to get her to say ‘yeah.’ Becker did not go along with it. She recounted that moment while speaking to Chris Van Vliet and recalled people on social media noting that she ruined the moment.

Yeah, it is true (interviewing is a skill that isn’t talked about enough). Everyone knows, it got kind of blown up online about me and L.A. Knight. We had an interview towards the end of my days there and I don’t know what was going on. I think I was just really tired and he and I were going back-and-forth backstage and he’s trying to get me to say, ‘Yeah,’ but he also just insulted me on TV so I felt like my character wouldn’t have said yeah. But whatever my facial expression was, the internet is still talking about (it), saying that I just looked — like I ruined the entire promo by my reaction. The fact that an announcer/interviewer can ruin a promo just shows how important the interviewer actually is.
