Tanahashi sanctioned the match.
Kicking off the main card of NJPW Capital Collision in Washington D.C. was a three-way tag match to determine the next challengers to the STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships. Competing in the match were the following duos:
- Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii
- Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)
- T.M.D.K. (Bad Dude Tito & Robbie Eagles)
Emerging victorious were Ishii and Tanahashi. Later in the show, T.M.D.K. (Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls) bested Virus and Hechicero to retain their STRONG Tag Titles.
Afterwards, the number one contenders made their way to the ring. Tanahashi stated that the match is taking place on October 20th at NJPW Royal Quest IV in London, England. Tanahashi sanctioned the match by saying, ‘President says so.’
