Artem Chigvintsev, the husband of former WWE performer Nikki Garcia, was arrested on Thursday and facing a charge of domestic battery.

TMZ first reported the arrest and has added several follow-ups since the initial report.

Chigvintsev was taken to Napa County Jail on a charge of felony domestic violence. TMZ later reported that Chigvintsev was released shortly after 5 p.m. ET on Thursday after bail of $25,000 was set.

TMZ adds that a 911 call was made by Chigvintsev at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time in Napa Valley with paramedics and the fire department sent to their home, but the request was called off minutes later by Chigvintsev. However, it is the protocol for police to respond after a call is made. During the call, Chigvintsev stated that his wife had thrown shoes at him.

Chigvintsev was arrested for felony corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant at approximately 10 a.m. with TMZ noting that for a felony charge, injuries must be visible.

A representative for Garcia issued the following statement on Friday:

“This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.”

Chigvintsev and Garcia were partners on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2019 and the couple was married two years ago and have a four-year-old child together.
