Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro deleted his Q&A video in which he stated that WrestleMania 2026 would be in Philadelphia.

PWInsider reached out to WWE and noted that several sources were surprised to hear what Shapiro said. The site added that WrestleMania returning to Philadelphia has not been discussed and the location for the 2026 installment of the event has not been locked in.

POST Wrestling’s own John Pollock received the following statement from Manuel Bonder, spokesman for Governor Josh Shapiro:

This statement was mistaken, and we apologize for the confusion amid all the incredible events Pennsylvania is excited to host in 2026. While WrestleMania won’t be here in ‘26, we look forward to continuing to work with WWE and wrestling fans all across our Commonwealth to bring more great events to PA in the future.

WrestleMania coming back to Philadelphia.

The 2024 installment of WWE WrestleMania took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2025, the company is bringing WrestleMania to Las Vegas, Nevada and as for 2026, per Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, the event is coming back to Philadelphia.

Shapiro posted a Q&A video onto X and was asked if there’s anything ‘cool’ scheduled to happen in Philadelphia for America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026. Among the events he listed was WrestleMania.

So get this, in Philly, we’ve got the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, we got the FIFA World Cup, we got WrestleMania, we got a little golf action, the PGA Championship and if you go over to Pittsburgh, we’ve got the NFL Draft and a lot more cool stuff happening all across Pennsylvania in the year 2026 for USA 250.

While promoting WrestleMania XL, WWE President Nick Khan made a media appearance and stated that the deal for Philadelphia to host WrestleMania had been in place for ‘over four years.’
