GUNTHER states that it made him ‘very happy’ to hear crowd reaction Ludwig Kaiser received at WWE Bash in Berlin

GUNTHER is thankful to Kaiser for doing the introduction.

The main event of WWE’s Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event saw GUNTHER defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton. As Samantha Irvin was doing the ring introductions, Ludwig Kaiser stepped into frame to introduce GUNTHER. Kaiser hails from Pinneberg, Germany.

After retaining his title, GUNTHER was interviewed by Gorilla Position and expressed how happy he was to hear the reaction Kaiser received. GUNTHER is thankful to him for doing the introduction.

He stated that although he spent many years in Germany, he’s from Austria and Ludwig is the one from Germany and that crowd views him as their ‘guy.’ He spoke about his history with Kaiser and feels there will be more great moments to come for them both.

Um, yeah (emotions were high seeing Ludwig Kaiser doing the introduction for me at Bash in Berlin). Of course, I was very happy to see that. Also the reaction he got from the audience. Because he’s their guy. I’m not the German. I’m from Austria. I lived here a long time and been a part of the German wrestling world but he’s literally their guy. So, to hear the welcoming reaction for him made me very happy and very thankful to him to do that special introduction because as I know him, he wanted to be on that card and it’s just five matches and sometimes it doesn’t work out. I was very happy to still be willing to be part of that and receive that reaction and well, we’ve been in places in front of 20 people and we’ve been in NXT together and started on the main roster together and it was a great moment out there and there’s gonna be more great moments to come.

He touched on closing the show while Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes opened it. He said it’s up to management to make those calls.

GUNTHER felt it was fitting that he closed the show in Berlin and in October when WWE presents Bad Blood, it’ll be fitting for Rhodes to main event in his home state of Georgia.

Uh, no, not really (is there a conversation between myself & Cody Rhodes about who closes a PLE). That decision is with management and all I can do is give my best to, as much as possible, be in the top spot but, it also depends on the occasion. Of course we’re competitors, but we still play for the same team on the other hand, and I think today was very fitting that I was the one walking out last. Yeah. I guess Bad Blood, that’s in Georgia. I think it’s very fitting that Cody will be there last so, we will see. Obviously competitors. On the other hand, teammates and whatever fits the occasion best.

In the aftermath of GUNTHER retaining over Orton, he was interviewed in the ring by Cathy Kelley. He spoke in German to the crowd in attendance. He translated what he said:

Yes, it was more like when WWE talked to me first. Like, ‘Hey, we want you’ and I was like, ‘Man, I’m focused on building something in Germany’ because we all had to start from zero. There was no business here and we had to really grind and build something up and I didn’t want to leave that yet and yeah, Triple H said to me, he was like, ‘Hey, I appreciate all of that. But, if you wanna build something up, you got to become somebody else first’ and yeah, I think I am somebody now. So, and well, that (main event against Randy Orton) was the accumulation of that all and I’ll be very surprised if WWE is done in Germany with running big events here. So, I think just globally, we’re just getting started and yeah, I’m here for it. Professional wrestling, WWE is nothing that’s exclusively for the U.S. or the English-speaking countries and we’re just getting started to establish that worldwide and yeah, I’m very happy to be on board of that.

The title defense against Orton was GUNTHER’s first televised defense since capturing the belt at SummerSlam.
