From the start of the show, Trick Williams and Pete Dunne were going after one another. NXT Level Up commentator Blake Howard appeared as an interviewer and he was checking in with Williams. It turned into a brawl with Dunne. They fought in various segments until General Manager Ava told them to go to the ring immediately and they were no longer the main event. Their match resulted in a double count-out after Pete sent Trick and himself through the commentary table with a Russian Leg Sweep. The two continued fighting and security could not stop them. It was decided that on 9/10, they’ll meet in a Last Man Standing match. The winner will challenge Ethan Page for the NXT Championship at the CW premiere show on October 1st.

There was a Triple Threat tag match to determine the number one contender’s to the NXT Tag Team Titles. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel), Hank Walker and Tank Ledger along with Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) were competing for the opportunity. Joe Coffey attempted to distract Tank, but Je’Von Evans ran down to the ring and fought Joe off. Hank was blindsided by Luke Gallows, which ultimately led to a Rascalz win. They’ll challenge for the Tag Titles on the next edition of NXT.

Ridge Holland explained why he turned on Chase University at No Mercy. He said they lost the Tag Titles he brought them. Holland stated that they judged his every decision and specifically called out Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne. He added that Hudson and Andre Chase failed to win the tag belts at Heatwave. He plans to destroy Chase U. starting on 9/10. Duke tweeted that he’ll get revenge for the group and he’ll be facing Ridge in a singles match.

While backstage, Karmen Petrovic was chatting with Brinley Reece. They were discussing the brawl involving Shawn Spears, Edris Enofe and Malik Blade. Petrovic said she heard Enofe had to undergo shoulder surgery.

Without Charlie Dempsey’s approval, Wren Sinclair offered Je’Von Evans a shot at the Heritage Cup on 9/10. Tavion Heights is returning to NXT after being part of Pro Wrestling NOAH’s N-1 Victory tournament. He’ll accompany Dempsey to the ring for the Cup defense.
