Danielson received an email after his manager filed for the trademark.
In late July, Bryan Danielson filed to trademark the ‘Yes’ chant. Prior to AEW All In, Danielson was interviewed by Luke James Chats and was asked about doing the signature movement and chant in AEW.
He shared that after his manager filed to trademark it, he received an email from WWE and they told Danielson that he was infringing. Danielson responded by saying he’s not trying to sell anyone anything.
Well so, it’s weird. I applied for it (‘Yes’ chant trademark) but then I got — it wasn’t necessarily a cease and desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE (he laughed). Listen, listen, it’s really weird because my manager just texted me and said, ‘Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?’ And I was like, ‘How much does it cost?’ And it wasn’t that much and I was like, ‘Okay, sure’ and then, shortly after that, I got an email from WWE saying, oh, ‘This is infringing’ on this or that or whatever and I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing.’
It was on September 5th, 2021 that Danielson debuted for All Elite Wrestling. Fast-forward to present-day and he’s going into the 2024 All Out as the company’s World Champion. He’ll be defending the belt against TNT Champion Jack Perry.
