Labor Day edition of WWE Raw declines in demo, ranks behind college football

The Labor Day edition of WWE Raw saw the show drop to its lowest 18-49 audience since June while ranking second on Monday.

The September 2 episode from Denver averaged 1,656,000 viewers and 657,000 (0.49) in the 18-49 demographic, according to PW Torch, Wrestlenomics & Programming Insider.

The show dropped 8% in its viewership with a two-week low for the program while the 18-49 audience experienced a decrease of 13% and its lowest figure since June 10.

Besides the holiday, Raw was affected by the college football game between Florida State and Boston College, which won the night with 4,439,000 viewers and a 1.39 rating in the demo on ESPN, and Raw ranked second in the 18-49 demo.

Raw opened with 1,768,000 viewers and 0.52 in the 18-49 demographic.

The second hour had 1,695,000 viewers and 0.50 in the demo including the show’s peak quarter when Drew McIntyre attacked CM Punk at 9 p.m. ET with 1,870,000 viewers and 754,000 in the demo, per Wrestlenomics.

The final hour fell to 1,505,000 and 0.44 and ended with the main event involving Damian Priest & Jey Uso against Finn Balor & JD McDonagh.

For the fourth time in five weeks, Raw topped 300,000 viewers in Canada. Monday’s episode averaged 303,100 viewers and 101,100 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360. The show ranked third among sports on Monday behind the CFL doubleheader on TSN.

Next Monday’s edition of Raw will air against the first Monday Night Football game of the season between the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.
