Jacqueline Moore reaches a deal with WWE.
The two-time WWF/E Women’s Champion Jacqueline Moore tweeted out a link to an article which notes that she signed a Legends contract with WWE.
Moore was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame in 2016. She’s also the first Black WWE Cruiserweight Champion. She is one of three women to hold the title. The following is from the aforementioned article:
Jacqueline Moore, Ms. Jacqueline, Miss Tennessee, Ms. Texas, and my personal favorite, Jackie, is not only the first African American female inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but she recently signed a legends contract with WWE!
What does this mean for the first African American female to sign a legends contract? She will not only join the ranks of the Undertaker, The Dudley Boyz, The Godfather, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Bray Wyatt, and Victoria, she will receive income from merchandise sales and TV/video game appearances! We haven’t seen or heard the last from this glass ceiling breaking superstar!
Her signing reflects WWE’s current regimes appreciation of what she contributed and can continue contributing to the ever-expanding world of professional wrestling.
Jacqueline DeLois Moore was born, raised, and continues living in her home state of Texas. Her illustrious pro wrestling career allowed her to achieve the following:
- World Wrestling Council, WWC Women’s Championship
- Universal Wrestling Federation, UWF Women’s World Championship
- United States Wrestling Association, 14x USWA Women’s Championship and USWA Women’s Championship Tournament
- Independent Association of Wrestling, IAW Women’s Championship
- World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment, 2x WWF Women’s Championship, WWE Cruiserweight Championship, WWE HOF, Class of 2016
In addition to making history as the first woman and first African American woman to ever win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship from Chavo Guerrero Jr. on the May 6, 2004, episode of SmackDown, Jackie was honored with the Cauliflower Alley Club’s, Women’s Wrestling Award in 2022. She also made the Pro Wrestling Illustrated list as a top female wrestler and the first female to crack the top 500 of overall wrestlers, coming in at #249 in 1993.
Furthermore, Jackie has wrestled and been a wrestling manager in World Class Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and Smokey Mountain Wrestling.
Who can forget when she had her head shaven after losing to the Dirty White Girl, Kim Anthony in USWA? Who can forget her feud with Luna Vachon or defeating Disco Inferno at Halloween Havoc? Who can forget perhaps her most infamous rivalry with Sable?
Many remember the bikini contests and catfights, but true wrestling fans recognize that Jackie played a major role in the re-establishment of the WWF Women’s Championship. Stephanie McMahon, herself, admitted that it was an honor to wrestle Jackie for her ‘undeserved’ WWF Women’s Championship title win on March 29, 2000.
Jackie also worked with Terri Runnels and Ryan Shamrock, calling themselves Pretty Mean Sisters. In TNA, she managed Beer Money (James Storm and Robert Roode). She also worked with Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, Traci Brooks, ODB, and many other females on TNAs roster.
Jackie’s physical prowess and vast achievements has allowed her to appear in video games for WCW and WWE, get cast in an action movie (production shut down unexpectedly), and appear in Fear Factor and as a trainer on MTVs Tough Enough.
Jackie was a referee, made the cover of WWF magazine, and she has a third-degree black belt in taekwondo. She is also an experienced boxer and kickboxer. Many say that Rhea Ripley can hold her own against men, but Ms. Moore could probably hold her own against Rhea’s Terror Twin and martial artist expert, Damian Priest.
Jackie was and continues to be the real deal. Natayla, Jazz, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Naomi, Trish Stratus, Sasha Banks, Nyla Rose, Alicia Fox, and a host of other female wrestlers have all credited Jackie in some way, shape, or form, with perhaps the greatest praise coming from Jim Ross, “MVP who rarely gets talked about.”
I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie during her WWF run and we have been friends ever since. We were there for each other when our careers changed course, for personal/professional achievements, and when we both lost our mother(s).
Jackie is a professional who takes her job seriously. Many in the locker room consider her one of the boys. Her passion for professional wrestling has been evident throughout her illustrious career and she appreciates her fans.
Jackie came during a time where her skin was considered too dark to be taken seriously as a major star, but true to form, she ignored the naysayer’s and achieved success after success after success.
Kudos to WWE for finally acknowledging Jackie as the MVP she has always been and will continue to be.
Moore was seated in the ‘Legends suite’ at SummerSlam in Cleveland, Ohio.
