Ricochet doesn’t feel like he’s done making history in NJPW.
For the first time in a long time, Ricochet might have the option to compete in NJPW. After wrapping up his multi-year run with WWE in June and making his AEW debut at All In Wembley, he’s now associated with a brand that has a working relationship with the Japanese wrestling promotion.
Anyone who followed Ricochet before his time in WWE knows that NJPW was an instrumental part of his career. He competed in more than 100 matches for them from 2013 to 2017, being an important name in the promotion’s junior division through those years.
Ricochet appeared twice on Wrestle Kingdom cards, and won the 2014 Best of the Super Junior tournament. Also, it cannot go without mentioning that he had a prolific clash against Will Ospreay as part of his time in the brand.
The high-flying American expressed interest in a possible return to NJPW in a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast.
“I already won the Best of the Super Junior, so I feel like now I should upgrade my goals to the G1,” Ricochet said. “And actually, obviously, there’s still a lot of things in New Japan that I didn’t get to accomplish that I still plan on accomplishing.”
Ricochet notably already has a trip to Japan scheduled, working a date next month for GLEAT.
Earlier in the interview, Ricochet said that his favorite venue of all time is Korakuen Hall, a spot that NJPW frequently includes in their tours.
“My all-time favorite [venue] is probably Korakuen Hall,” he said. “I’ve just had a lot of memories, a lot of great matches. The energy that is always there every time. That one probably is my favorite.”
