Otis is hoping for a ‘big match’ against Gable.
For months, there was tension within Alpha Academy. The group consisted of Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa. The remainder of the group began to get fed up with Gable’s verbal abuse and him continuously slapping Otis.
As Otis sat down with Chris Van Vliet, he opened up about that change for his character. He stated that him and Gable do not have to communicate often when they work together because they understand each other. He feels there’s a lot of story left to tell between them.
Basically, in my words in Gorilla, I go, ‘I’m so f*cking hard right now.’ Which is the coolest sh*t… and there’s still a lot of story there too so it’s — it’s just one of those things, organically, me and (Chad) Gable, we don’t have to talk much about how we’re gonna do it, if that makes sense. It’s kind of like, he knows how I would react. He’s seen me pissed, he’s seen me cry, he’s seen me — all this stuff, you know what I mean? So he knows what I gotta do to turn that switch on kind of a thing because again, it kind of was funny because everyone was like, ‘Oh, make sure you look serious’ and I’m going, ‘Guys, have you ever really seen me pissed off in real life?’ I go, ‘Pretty scary.’ Kind of hard to get pissed. So, usually I’m pretty chill… (The crowd wanted me to beat Gable down) and I remember going, ‘Is push enough?…’ So I’m thinking, like, club him. Give him a slam. Sorry, Daz. That’s his nickname… Dazzle, yeah. He loves that nickname. Since day one. Just nicknames, you know? I’ll be like, ‘Hey man, if we start being babyfaces after we’re heel, we’ll have Doz and Daz.’ He’s like, ‘No.’
(Crowd thought I was going to go off on Gable) And I fire up ridiculously where I couldn’t breathe. I remember Colby called me out and he goes, ‘Get a breather in there, kid.’ I go, ‘No, I’m just tired.’ It’s a certain drug, babe. I don’t know.
He went on to name some of his goals and that list includes a singles match at WrestleMania and to have a ‘big match’ against Gable.
Definitely a singles match at WrestleMania (is one of my goals). I mean, everyone talks about the title. For me, it’s basically, you know, probably have a big match with (Chad) Gable. Hopefully, it’d be cool. Maybe someday. I don’t know… (This has been building for a while) Yeah, so maybe there.
Gable and Otis have not gone one-on-one. Gable went on to form a new group named American Made. He’s aligned with Ivy Nile and The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed). The group wrapped up a program with The Wyatt Sicks (Bo Dallas, Erick Rowan, Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis).
