Vince ‘Viking Lord’ Austin, a staple of the Western Canada wrestling scene, has passed away at 52.

The news was announced on Thursday night by Alberta promotion Real Canadian Wrestling (RCW) on its Facebook page:

It’s with great sadness that RCW has announced the unfortunate news that Vince Austin has passed away. RCW sends it’s deepest heart felt Condolences to the his family, Friends and fans as this is truly a great loss to the entire Wrestling scene.

RCW will provide more details once they become available.

As profiled by Slam Wrestling in a 2021 article, the veteran, real name Gordon Glynn, began his in-ring career in the early 1990s in his native Newfoundland and Labrador.

He was initially trained by Sailor White, also known as Moondog King, who wrestled with the WWWF in the early 1980s. After a move to western Canada, Bruce Hart also had a hand in Austin’s training.

In the Slam Wrestling profile, Hart said of Austin:

Vince is a good guy. Wrestling needs more guys like that, guys who understand what ‘old school’ is and they manifest that in the ring. He’s great in the ring, great in the locker room. I’m glad to see he’s doing well for himself, and I hope he keeps up the good work.

A fan of Terry Funk, Austin’s later career was marked by a hardcore style. He last wrestled in July for RCW, where he was a former multiple-time Hardcore Champion and Tag Team Champion.

The cause of his passing is not yet known.
