AEW has reportedly extended Rey Fenix’s contract by almost a year to compensate for time out injured.

The claim comes from Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Between two injuries, Fenix has been out of action for around 10 months during his contracted time with AEW. He suffered a dislocated elbow in early 2022, which put him on the sidelines for four months. He then missed six months between the fall of 2023 and spring 2024 with an undisclosed injury.

There has been persistent speculation that WWE wants to sign Fenix and his brother, Pentagon Jr.

Meltzer states that the pair refused to sign a “significant” offer to remain with AEW and that Pentagon is due to leave within two months.
