El Hijo del Vikingo is finally back.
Appearing in-ring for the first time since early 2024, the famous luchador wrestler appeared at an AAA Origenes taping in Monterrey, Mexico on Sunday night.
Vikingo teamed alongside Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr. to take out Belcegor, Emperador Azteca and Taurus.
Posts from fans at the event show Vikingo looking like his usual high-flying self. He came soaring off the entrance ramp with a crossbody, then jumped into the ring to land a flashy spinning kick to the head at the beginning of the match.
Vikingo underwent surgery earlier this year for a ruptured ligament and torn meniscus, which has kept him out of action since February. The injury put an end to his more than 800-day reign as AAA Mega Champion and slowed his momentum amid a stronger presence in U.S. bookings and appearances in AEW programming along with his usual work in Mexico. Now that he’s back to action, it looks like he could pick up where he left off.
The return of Vikingo felt imminent in recent weeks, as he has recently been added to numerous upcoming events. Next month he is expected to appear as part of a GLEAT doubleheader in Japan, and will also wrestle a match against Nic Nemeth at House of Glory’s Salvation show.
