WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill has accomplished so much in wrestling that it’s easy to forget how recently she joined the industry.
Cargill only made her televised in-ring debut back in early 2021, and just recently had her landmark 100th match, per database Cagematch. While she cut her teeth in AEW with a 508-day run as TBS Champion and is now one of the stand-out women’s talents in WWE, Cargill is still quite early into her wrestling career.
Cargill recently opened up about her fast rise in wrestling recently, discussing how she believes her commercial success has made some forget that she is still just a few years into her time as a wrestler.
“One of the hardest things is, people understanding, I am three and some change [years] in this thing and they are comparing me to people who have been doing this for 10, 20, 15 years,” she told Ebro, Laura Stylez and Rosenberg on HOT 97. “And I’m out here working with these people but my name is being brought up with these great people ’cause they know. And I need people to understand like, it takes time. This is not something that happens overnight. This is, again, an art. There’s several layers to it.
Cargill recalls receiving advice from current AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson while he trained her a few years back.
“I remember one of my trainers Bryan Danielson telling me that he didn’t get comfortable doing this until seven years,” she said. “Seven years and this is one of the greatest technical wrestlers you’ve ever seen. So for him to say that, again, I just have to give myself grace. One of the hardest things is getting people to understand that. I’m still new at this, relatively new.”
