TV RATINGS: AEW Collision collapses against Bad Blood, SmackDown tops cable

AEW Collision saw its numbers collapse airing against WWE Bad Blood while WWE SmackDown ranked first on cable this past Friday.

Saturday’s taped episode of Collision from Pittsburgh saw the show fall to 269,000 viewers and 68,000 viewers (0.05) in the 18-49 demographic and was outside of the top twenty-five cable programs that night, according to data from Wrestlenomics.

The show aired against WWE Bad Blood, the UFC 307 preliminary card as well as college football and the MLB playoffs.

Overall viewership for Collision fell by 38% and was Collision’s second lowest viewership in its normal time slot.

The 18-49 audience hits its all-time low in its normal time slot after a 60% decline from the previous week’s Grand Slam edition. Males in the demo dropped from 119,000 viewers to 49,000 while females in the category fell from 49,000 to 19,000.

Adults 18-34 dropped 72% this week with an average of 15,000 viewers with men down by 65% and females dropping by 83% this week.

Adults 35-49 averaged 53,000 viewers, which was a drop of 54% from last week.

There is no episode of Collision this week due to the WrestleDream pay-per-view on Saturday.

Friday Night SmackDown ranked first on cable and second on television behind Fox’s college football coverage.

The show from Nashville averaged 1,518,000 viewers and approximately 630,000 viewers (0.47) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics.

The audience was down by 3% and the demo audience grew by 4% from the prior week. In the 18-49 category, males grew from 397,000 to 424,000 viewers and females dropped from 207,000 to 200,000.

Michigan State vs. Oregon averaged 2,842,000 viewers and 0.68 in the demo on Fox to top all of television. SmackDown beat everything on cable including the Houston vs. TCU game on ESPN (0.36) and two WNBA playoff games (0.21 and 0.20).

Sportsnet 360 in Canada saw SmackDown average 321,000 viewers and 143,000 in the 25-54 demographic, increases of 3% and 7% respectively. SmackDown ranked fourth among sports programs behind two CFL games and an NHL pre-season game but ranked second in the demo behind the Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Friday’s edition of AEW Rampage fell to one of the show’s lowest figures in history with 216,000 viewers and approximately 94,000 (0.07) in the 18-49 demographic.

The audience dropped by 22% and the demo audience fell by 17%, which were its lowest figures since August 2.

In the 18-49 demographic, male viewership held up relatively well with a 4% decrease from last week but females in the demo declined by 37%.

The show ranked #15 among prime-time cable programs on Friday, according to Programming Insider.
