Zack Sabre Jr. becomes IWGP World Heavyweight Champion at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling, title match set for Royal Quest IV

A new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

Closing out NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling was the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match between Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr.

Naito went in as champion but it was Sabre Jr. who ended the show as champion. Upon his title win, he was joined in the ring by his TMDK stablemates Shane Haste, Mikey Nicholls, Kosei Fujita and Hartley Jackson. When Sabre Jr. was giving his post-match comments, he said he’s won the belt but he’ll always be in New Japan. That was in response to comments made by Naito that if Sabre Jr. were to accomplish all his goals in NJPW too quickly, he might do what other foreigners in that position have done and that’s leave the promotion.

Joining Sabre Jr. in the ring was SANADA. It was already official that Sabre Jr. and SANADA would be meeting at NJPW Royal Quest IV on October 20th in Sabre Jr.’s home country of England. The match is now an IWGP World Heavyweight Title bout.

Out came Shota Umino, who called out Sabre Jr. for a title match. Also entering the mix was NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi and he expressed his desire to challenge Zack. Zack stated that SANADA is his focus for the immediate future.
