AEW Dynamite ranks behind NBA & CNN’s Town Hall on cable

Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite had a small decrease with the show posting its lowest 18-49 audience in nearly three months.

The October 23 episode from Salt Lake City averaged 637,000 viewers and 257,000 viewers (0.19) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics & Programming Insider.

The overall viewership increased by 1% while the 18-49 audience fell by 2% from last week’s program. The 18-49 audience was Dynamite’s lowest since August 2.

Dynamite’s competition on cable included the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, which averaged 1,714,000 viewers and 0.59 in the demo on ESPN as well as CNN’s Town Hall with Kamala Harris averaging 3,334,000 viewers and 0.37 in the demo.

Dynamite ranked behind both as well as CNN’s post-show analysis and three programs on Fox News.

In the 18-49 demographic, males grew by 1% averaging 187,000 viewers while females declined by 8% to 70,000.

Adults 18-34 increased by 3% averaging 75,000 with an increase among males, which offset the decrease with women in the category.

Adults 35-49 were down by 4% averaging 182,000 viewers.

According to Wrestlenomics, the most-watched quarter hour was between 8 – 8:15 p.m. ET for the opening fifteen minutes of Jay White confronting Hangman Page and the beginning of Shelton Benjamin vs. Sammy Guevera with 832,000 viewers and 0.24 in the demo. The other standout quarter was between 9 and 9:15 p.m. ET during the ladder war between Chris Jericho and Mark Briscoe and the start of the Adam Cole segment with the Undisputed Kingdom. This coincided with the start of CNN’s Town Hall program with Dynamite growing by 9% in overall viewership and 16% in the demo from the prior quarter.

In Canada, Dynamite had a major decrease averaging 61,600 viewers and 37,400 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2, which represented a decline of 42% and 41% respectively from last week. It was the show’s lowest audience in its normal night since August 14.

Dynamite ranked #8 among sports programs for the night but was #3 in the demo behind the Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers and Raptors pre-game show.
