Kross first mentioned the plan during a media appearance.
Night two of WWE WrestleMania 40 featured a Philadelphia Street Fight that saw Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) best The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam & Rezar).
Their program going into WrestleMania was discussed while Lashley was participating in a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest. When initially asked about Kross, Lashley mentioned that he’s heard about Kross bad-mouthing him in interviews, but he’ll keep his comments about Kross positive.
Lashley feels Kross is great and and could be used more than he is now. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Kross stated that the ‘rumored heat’ with Lashley is a work. Continuing with the praise of Kross, Lashley feels he could be an adversary to either Cody Rhodes or GUNTHER. He added that A.O.P. is great, but said Kross does not need them and that him and Scarlett can go off on their own.
The former WWE Champion went on to confirm Kross’ story about them planning to do a legitimate backstage fight to promote their WrestleMania 40 bout.
You know what? I’m a very positive person and I stay positive all the time, and I think Karrion Kross is great, and I hate saying it because I’ve heard several interviews that he tried to bad-mouth me. But I think that Karrion Kross is great. I think he has everything. I think he’s great in the ring, I think he has good size, he represents that ‘wrestler mystique’ that you see, has the million dollar look, he’s good in the ring. I think he could be a force. I think he should be used a lot more than he’s being used right now. I think he’s that antagonist that you could put against Cody (Rhodes), you could put against GUNTHER, you can put the title on him at the top. I think he has a lot of great things about him. I think he should run on his own. AOP’s great but I don’t think he really needs AOP. I think him and his wife can just run on their own and do their thing and I think that A.O.P. can go wreck people on their own also.
I have nothing bad to say about him. I’ve talked to him about several different things… There was one time we were starting our feud together. I was like, ‘Man, I think we should just get in a fight.’ Because there’s not too many people that I could actually do that with and Kross has the martial arts background and he has a boxing background, he has a jiu-jitsu background and for us, we were both itching to be a part of something and I was like, ‘Let’s just go and start slugging it out,’ and if people break it up, it’s gonna help out our feud and I think it brings a lot more attention to it because they were putting us together in this feud right before WrestleMania and wasn’t giving us an opportunity to really go after each other. So I was like, ‘Man, this might be the thing to kind of spark the feud and bring a lot more attention to it.’ But I think it just naturally brought some attention to it because I think a lot of people just wanted to see us and they wanted to see him and his group do something so it just kind of went together.
