Closing out AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view was Jon Moxley being crowned as the new AEW World Champion by defeating Bryan Danielson. With the loss, Danielson’s full-time in-ring career is over. Wheeler Yuta also fully pledged his allegiance to Blackpool Combat Club by targeting Danielson after being stuck between the two sides.
Moxley is now a four-time AEW World Champion. Going into the 10/30 Dynamite in his home state of Ohio, he guest appeared on Youngstown Studio.
He spoke about Bryan Danielson and described working with him as ‘special’ and a ‘blessing.’ Moxley added that he took Danielson off the board and he’s no longer in the game.
I could sit here and I could wax about the beauty of what Bryan Danielson creates in the ring and about probably the greatest pure wrestler in the ring that has ever walked the face of the earth. I could sit here and talk about that all day, if that’s what we were doing and I was lucky enough to have been his opponent many times but I was one of the even fewer people that was lucky enough to be his teammate and partner for a few years there and to be on that side of it is an even bigger blessing and an even more special thing to be able to work alongside him and to learn everything I could learn. All that being said, you know, Bryan Danielson is not on the board anymore. I took that piece off the board and it is not a part of the game anymore and some people might not be happy about that and they might voice their displeasure about that and they might shower me with vitriol about that, but I can handle that, because there are some things that just have to be done and somebody has got to do them. Someone has to have the constitution to be able to handle that vitriol and to be able to put themselves in a position to weather that storm, to stand tall in the rain and the wind, and the ice and the hail and just to take whatever comes because there are things that somebody has to do. If people were shocked or appalled or felt that something crossed the line or was too shocking, well you’re gonna have to go and buy the replay on Bleacher Report or whatever it is. You’re gonna have to go and judge for yourself. You know, really look at the whole story and the whole context and you tell me if that wasn’t entirely necessary. What would you do if you were in my position? It was just wanting violence for the sake of violence or was this just to move your pieces forward? Some pieces gotta get knocked off the board to achieve the objective and there are things that need to be done and I am moving pieces around the board and that makes people uncomfortable, then so be it.
Since Blackpool Combat Club shelved Danielson, a multitude of wrestlers on the AEW talent roster have been trying to take the fight to the group.
After wrestler-turned-producer Chuck Taylor was targeted by the B.C.C., Orange Cassidy is going to appear on the 10/30 Dynamite to address what unfolded.
